Robust Developmental EEG Practices from Collection to Analysis Workshop

Presenters: Laurel Joy Gabard-Durnam, PhD, Northeastern University, Boston, United States and Trey Avery, Ph.D., Magstim / EGI
This workshop addresses how to collect and analyze high-density EEG in developmental populations with Magstim EGI systems and the Harvard Automated Processing Pipeline for Electroencephalography (HAPPE) software. Current best practices and strategies to promote robust, standardized data collection and analysis will be emphasized. Participants will be guided through processing publicly available developmental Magstim EGI data or their own data through HAPPE 2.0 software for resting-state EEG (HAPPE pipeline) and ERP analyses (HAPPE+ER pipeline). The workshop is suitable for both novice and experienced EEG users.

2021 David Kucharski Young Investigator Award, Maya Opendak, Ph.D.
Dr. Opendak is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute. Research in the lab focuses on the developmental neurobiology of social behavior and the impact of experience, such as trauma, on infant circuits supporting complex behavior.
2021 David Kucharski Young Investigator Award, Kathryn Leigh Humphreys, Ph.D., Ed.M.
Dr. Kathryn Humphreys is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology and Human Development at Peabody and an investigator in the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center. She is a member of the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, and holds a secondary faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, Dr. Humphreys received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles, completed a clinical predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowship in Infant Mental Health at the Tulane University School of Medicine, and completed a research postdoctoral followship at Stanford University.

2021 Sandra G. Wiener Student Investigator Award, Mariann A. Howland
Mariann A. Howland is in her 4th year in the Developmental Psychopathology and
Clinical Science Ph.D. program. She is essentially on her way to completing two Ph.D.’s, one in developmental psychology and one in child clinical psychology at the University of Minnesota, Institute of Child Development.

Priority will be given to presentations with international and diverse representation, inclusion of trainees, and inclusion of psychobiological data.
