Student, Graduate and Postdoctoral Announcement:

The laboratory of Rina Das Eiden (Development, Risk, and Resilience Lab) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral position. The key aim of our research is to understand risk and resilience processes among children of substance using parents and early intervention with this population. Research conducted in our lab use an interdisciplinary approach with multi-method assessments of most key constructs, integrating theory and research from substance abuse and developmental science literatures. We are in the process of building new research infrastructure and collaborations at Penn State, with majority of data collection for ongoing projects occurring in Buffalo, NY. A PhD is required at time of appointment. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in developmental or child clinical psychology or a related field, a background that includes significant statistical analytic experience, a record of publications, and an interest in understanding risk and resilience processes among children of substance using parents and/or early intervention. We are also looking for an applicant with an interest in helping to build a coalition for research and preventive interventions with children of substance using parents and obtaining pilot data to support larger grant applications. Initially, the role would be equally split between working on the Maternal and Child Health Study (MCHS) with data collected from birth to adolescence and coordinating pilot projects with pregnant substance users in Pennsylvania. The overall goal of MCHS is to examine reactive and proactive aggression pathways to violence, victimization, and substance use in a substance exposed sample of children recruited at birth and followed into adolescence. In the second year, there will be greater time devoted to completing pilot data collection and collaborating on external grant submissions.  There will be ample opportunity to pursue your own research using data collected across three longitudinal cohorts of substance exposed children and families. Applicants can read more about our ongoing research at https://sites.psu.edu/eiden/. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. This is a one-year position with excellent possibility for renewal. Salary and benefits follow NSF/NIH guidelines. Applicants should submit an application online, and should include as attachments a CV, several reprints, and a 1-2 page statement of research interests. This statement should describe the candidate`s goals for research and training during a postdoctoral position, including previous experience. Applicants should arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent separately to [email protected]. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Penn State is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.
