Position Summary
The UNO Psychology Department has unique strengths in Developmental Psychology and Biopsychology, with a keen interest in applications of developmental science to both the community of New Orleans and broader, outside world. Our faculty employ innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of developmental psychopathology. We are seeking a Chair to be the department’s chief executive officer who is primarily responsible for the development of its quality programs in instruction, research, and professional service. The department offers a BS in Psychology, a non-thesis master’s degree and Ph.D. in Applied Developmental Psychology or Applied Biopsychology. Responsibilities
Other responsibilities may include: (a) teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, (b) conducting high quality research in Developmental Psychology, Biopsychology or Developmental Psychobiology, (c) seeking research funding, (d) mentoring graduate students, and (e) seeking partnerships that will advance the reputation of the department.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will have evidence of prior effective leadership in an academic setting, a distinguished record of scholarship and strong commitment to undergraduate/graduate education. Excellence in oral and written communication is required. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Psychology or closely related field and be eligible for appointment at rank of Associate Professor or Professor with tenure.
