Postdoctoral Research Associate in Behavioral Neuroscience

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the lab of Dr. Kevin Bath, in the Department of Cognitive, Linguistic and Psychological Sciences at Brown University. Applications will be accepted through July with a start date of Aug 1 or later. The position is part of a new NIH-funded project to use a mouse model to investigate the mechanisms underlying sex differences in cognitive and emotional disturbance following early life stress.

In our lab, we will use a multi-leveled approach across development to investigate the impact of early life stress on cellular and circuit development. This includes the use of transgenic mouse lines, cutting edge behavioral methods, optogenetic techniques, quantitative PCR, histology, and pharmacological approaches. In addition to training in these methods, trainees will receive professional training in manuscript preparation, grant writing, and mentoring, which will poise the trainee for a future career as an independent investigator. This project is part of a larger collaboration with the labs of Dr. Christopher Moore and Dr. Barry Connors in the Department of Neuroscience at Brown University and will provide exposure and possible training opportunities in both slice and in vivo electrophysiology. Salary will be commensurate with research experience and based on the NIH guidelines for postdoctoral research associates, trainees and fellows.
A PhD in Neuroscience, Psychology or associated area is preferred. Experience in animal behavior and use of optogenetics is preferred but not required.
