Dear Scientist:
The Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences (FABBS) is interested in building a database of scientists who are interested in advocacy and media training and willing to participate in outreach as needed. FABBS is a nonprofit organization that represents the interests of twenty-two scientific societies whose member scientists share an interest in promoting the sciences of mind, brain, and behavior.
The International Society for Developmental Psychobiology is an organizational member of FABBS and supports their work on behalf of our field. FABBS works to ensure federal funding for the behavioral and brain sciences, educate members of Congress and federal agencies about the importance of our sciences, and represents our sciences on important science policy issues. FABBS has been one of the leading organizations working to return to a sensible definition of “clinical trial” at the NIH.
FABBS is collecting the names of scientists who want to be more involved in sharing the results of their research with Congress and the public. It could involve participating in a Congressional briefing, writing an op-ed for a local media outlet, or visiting the office of a Member of Congress. FABBS will provide training to interested scientists, and contact you as opportunities arise. At that time, you will have the option of participating.
